Corona COVID 19 - A Health & Wellness Perspective

The Gift

Corona Virus update – A different perspective:

I, like many of you have been watching closely the News about the Corona Virus. I have been keeping up with the CDC updates and I watched a live webinar with Douglas County and Tri County Health Professionals recently. I also have watched the President's White House News Conferences with leading Health Experts. So yes with travel  restrictions, suspending professional and college athletics and even Tom Hanks getting sick, it is all concerning. I think it is good to be pro-active having an "abundance of caution" and certainly, we need to practice good health and hygiene habits to be safe.

Here are some additional common-sense basics like my mom used to say to do:

  • Drink lots of water
  • Get plenty of rest
  • Eat healthy foods – avoid fast food, junk food, pop, artificial sweeteners, too many sweets or processed foods. Avoid tobacco, energy drinks and too much caffeine.
  • Exercise Daily
  • Read or listen to something positive before you go to bed - Avoid watching the news before bed.
  • Take your multi vitamins and vitamin C
  • Gargle with salt water a couple of times a day
  • If you are sick stay home
  • Be proactive about your health not reactive.
  • Get outside - Take a walk - ride your bike - go on a hike
  • Also - Get your Chiropractic adjustments -

Why Adjustments ? - did you know that your body is self-regulating and self-healing ? ... that means ... your body knows what to do all the time. You don't have to think about breathing or your heart beating. You don't have to tell your body how to digest your lunch or to tell your liver and kidneys to work ... your body does that automatically. Just like your immune system knows how to fight off disease. Thankfully not all germs cause disease because our immune system fights them off on its own on a daily basis.

It is only when your body gets under stress and run down, that is what suppresses your immune system and that is when you get sick. It is when you are tired, over stressed, been eating crap :-) that is when your body gets run down and more susceptible to disease like colds, flu or the Corona virus.

After 40 years of studying and practicing Health and Wellness Care we have faced many challenges and made it through ... I could list many diseases / events / threats over the years that were supposed harm or kill us all but did not. With that said, at Boyd Chiropractic we are doing everything we can to make sure we do our part when you and your family visit our office.

We all have heard the things to do and not to do to avoid contracting the virus .. Like every cold and flu season and for general good health practices ... Wash your hands, use hand sanitizer when soap and water is not available. Avoid touching your face, lips, nose or eyes after you have been in contact with something dirty.

Stress lowers your immune system

Just like if you are talking on your cell phone and you get a bad or poor connection that is like pressure on your nervous system. So what a spinal adjustment does is free up the communication from your brain to the rest of the body - without interference on your nervous system it will function better.

So your if your nervous system is working at 100% your body will work better, you will feel less stressed and you will be able to fight off disease better.

Add these to your family to do list – drink lots of water, make healthy food choices, gets lots of rest, take your vitamins, take a hike, have some fun, laugh - don't watch or dwell on the 24 hours News coverage and call the office to get you and your family adjusted to give a Boost to your immune system.

Wishing you and your family, friends and loved ones Good Health and Happiness as we get through this temporary challenge.
