Knee Pain

An Overview of Knee Pain Causes and Treatments

At Boyd Chiropractic Center, one of the most common reasons why patients come to see us has to do with knee pain. Knee pain can appear for a variety of reasons. However, no matter what the cause might be, this is always incredibly frustrating for patients to deal with. Some people with knee pain might have trouble running, walking, or even getting out of bed in the morning. That is why we are here to help the residents of Castle Rock and beyond. We want to get our patients back to feeling like themselves as quickly as possible.

Common Causes of Knee Pain

Some of the most common causes of knee pain that our chiropractor sees include:

  • A knee contusion that develops when someone sustains a direct blow to the knee, such as in an auto accident
  • An overuse injury that leads to inflammation throughout the knee, possibly causing redness and swelling
  • A sprain that damaged the ligaments of the knee while playing sports, including the ACL, MCL, LCL, and PCL

While the below reasons of knee pain are the most common ones we diagnose and treat, they are not the only ones. Osteoarthritis, patellar tendinitis, meniscal tear, bursitis, and a dislocated knee are other known factors for causing knee pain.

How a Chiropractor Helps with Knee Pain Treatment

First, our chiropractor, Dr. Boyd, will take a complete health history. He will want to know everything about the knee injury, how it happened, and how the symptoms developed. Then, our doctor will do a thorough physical exam, testing the knee's strength and range of motion. Finally, he will come up with a treatment plan that has been tailored to meet the patient’s needs. This may include rehab exercises, spinal adjustments, cold laser therapy, or foot levelers.
